Starting off the New Academic Year: A Trust Conference to Remember

As the new academic year begins, our Multi Academy Trust hosted an exciting and motivational conference, bringing together staff from all seven schools within the trust. This event was designed to inspire, energise and prepare our teams for the year ahead, setting the tone for a year of collaboration and excellence.

The conference started with CEO Linda Rodham, going through the successes of the year before, celebrating the many teams within the trust which contribute to the trust’s continued success and reigniting the passion for education which drives our trust forward.

Our first guest speaker was The Sumo Guy, Paul McGhee, who passionately spoke to our 560 employees about the importance of relationships within work, how to look after your own mental health and how to navigate any challenges in the upcoming year.

Further to this we were delighted to receive a talk from Dr Jim McAtear, CEO Hartismere Family of Schools, who shared with us his amazing story of success and showed us all just how far ambition can drive you. These talks served as reminder of the vital role each staff member plays in shaping the future of our students and the community at large.

In additional to these motivational speeches all staff took part in an exercise delivered by Director of HR, Katy Fairley and Assistant Head Teacher at Consett Academy, David Hall. This exercise allowed participants to discover their ‘animal’ and how we as employees work with each other, optimising workplace practices, communication and fostering an inclusive working environment.

The conference ended with the yearly Awards ceremony to celebrate staff members nominated by their peers. This year the awards focused on our newly announced Trust values; Resilient, Collaborative, Inclusive, Respectful and Ambition.

Overall, the conference was a fantastic start to the academic year, motivating staff to feel inspired, valued and ready to take on new challenges.
